Overweight and Obesity are defined as the accumulation of abnormal or excessive fat that causes many health risks. Most people are currently obese. Obesity is measured by body mass index (BMI). Body mass index is the weight (in kilograms) of a person divided by the square of his height (in meters). A person with a BMI of 30 or more is usually considered obese. A person with a BMI of 25 or more falls into the category of overweight.

According to the World Health Organization, overweight and obesity are major risk factors for many chronic disorders, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Previously it was considered a problem only in high-income countries, but overweight and Obesity is now increasing in low and middle-income countries too, especially in urban areas.
